I walked to work one day, camera in hand. After a 14 inch snowfall the day before.

i did just that during a weekend for a lab tryout.

I was still a JW at the time and my four boys were always anxious for me to bring home a Daisy product. I did just that during a weekend for a lab tryout. Ha! It was really for my pleasure although my conscience stung a bit because of Watchtower teaching. The gun was a pistol, a modified early model of the CO2 200. Which brings me to my motive for posting.
I was a young tool and die designer for Daisy in the late 60s and early 70s. I recently found three early issues of their newsletters, "The Daisy Aim", in my files. They are charming, historically informative -- perhaps more so to present day readers. They were all very well written -- one of them at the pen of Beth Hough (wife of then president of Daisy, Cass Hough). Yes, both have since passed and although I never personally met them, I alway held that dynamic couple in the highest esteem.
I decided to scan them so others may get the same pleasure I received. You may click on links to those newsletters, peeking into Rogers, Ar (and Daisy) history, from 60 years ago.

Len Miller
a young man in somerset in england, under massive pressure from financial and relationship issues lapsed into mental illness.
he was unlucky enough to have as his support system the local congregation of jehovah's witnesses.
one of the symptoms of his illness was the use of tobacco.
I am now 79 and still remember the struggles I had to quit smoking. I was just a kid at 21 and during a long Thanksgiving weekend, away from the influence of my work buddies, and quit the habit -- and don't regret it now. But I truly loved it then.
It would be another 10 years or so when it became a DF offense and I totally empathized with the then elderly who were struggling with their addiction.
What haunted my thinking then was Jesus words, Matthew 15:11 11What goes into someone's mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them."
leonard warwick has been found guilty for a number of bombings committed during the 1980’s, including the family court bombing and the jehovah’s witnesses casula congregation kingdom hall bombing on 21 july 1985 which killed the public speaker, graham wykes, and injured 13 others.. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-07-23/leonard-warwick-family-court-bomber-found-guilty/12483286.
side note: i have been closely following this story for 35 years now, including the past few years of supreme court hearings, much of which dealt with the jehovah’s witnesses kingdom hall bombing..
Horrible cold case. Anything to indicate this perpetrator is or was a JW?
the latest wt celebrates the 100th anniversary of 1920 with an article about what happened that year:.
on march 21, 1920, joseph f. ruther-ford .
spoke on the subject“millions now living will never die.” the bi-ble students left no stone unturned in theirquest to invite interested ones to this event.they rented one of the largest theaters innew york city and distributed some 320,-000 invitations.the public responded beyond all expecta-tions.
as I recall, the campaign started as Millions now living MAY never die and it started in 1917

the watch tower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, which oversees the jehovah’s witnesses, is suing the truth and transparency foundation and its founders ryan c. mcknight and ethan g. dodge alleging copyright infringement..
Great find, Corney.
i just watched athlete a on netflix.
it moved me to tears.
it was about the cover up by usa gymastics of child sex abuse at the hands of dr nassar.
Athlete A is a great documentary. Wife and I watched it. Yes, the similarities to Watchtower's obsession with protecting the mothership is uncanny.
it's long overdue, i know, and i apologise profusely but it's tough working full-time and trying to spend time on all the ex-jw work that i want to do...... that said - here are the 2018 survey results for anyone interested and i am already working on the 2019 results.
also, i'm tweaking the survey for the 2020 release which will be soon..... hugs to all!.
sherrie d'souza (aka unstuck!).
Sherrie -- you can't hear me right now but I'm applauding. You are a great activist.
all my jw life i was reminded constantly about the importance of not bringing reproach on jehovah's name.
decisions on whether or not to disfellowship an individual often turned, not on the seriousness of the sin, but on whether the incident was public knowledge and had resulted in bad publicity for the congregation.
i recall a middle-aged lady being reported to the elders for shoplifting a sweet worth less than £1- and the elders' insistence that a judicial committee must be formed because the store manager and staff knew that she was a jw (i successfully argued that all she needed was support for her dreadful family life, but that's another story).
Insightful, Cofty.
on tuesday, the george floyd funeral took place.. "on wednesday, texas reported its highest single-day increase in diagnoses since the start of the pandemic, with 2,504 new cases, more than twice as many reported the previous day.
